Implementation of
Professional Guideline
for the Hong Kong Interior Design Industry
Introduction
Phase 5 of the Registered Interior Designer Association (RIDA) Project has officially launched in July 2015.
Overview
This Phase implements the suggestions set out in the previous phase of the RIDA project, Professional Guideline for the Interior Design Industry in Hong Kong, by enhancing the professional standard for interior designers in various aspects. This two-year project helps practitioners enhance their professional knowledge with a series of continuing education schemes; caters for educators’ needs in better transfer the required body of knowledge by writing and publishing a standardized text book series, assists fresh graduates attain higher professional standards and helps employers undergo more effective staff training by inaugurating a pilot mentorship program; and allow practitioners, students, stakeholders and the general public gain a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of interior designers by promoting the Professional Guideline for the Interior Design Industry in Hong Kong. Main features of the project includes:
1. Master Talk
Organize a Master Talk featuring top international interior designers & educators on the 6 Body of Knowledge areas mentioned in the Professional Guideline
2. Research and Writing of Interior Design Textbook
Research and write the first Hong Kong textbook series for interior design education based on the 6 Body of Knowledge areas
3. Mentoring Scheme
Implementation and monitoring of a 2-year interior design mentorship pilot scheme for fresh graduates
4. Continuing Education
Working with other educational institutions to develop continuing education courses for practitioners
