To be a Mentor

A mentor will be invited to nominate a mentor from his/her firm for a 24 months term in order to demonstrate the enormous support to the mentoring scheme. The workplace mentor is a vital role that supports and develops graduates through the practical training and on to HKIDA’s Professional Membership.

Benefits to mentor/ firm

Not only will a mentor gain personal satisfaction in seeing the results of the involvement through the improved skills and performance of the mentee, but by becoming a mentor are sending out a clear message to employees that mentors are committed to their support and development. Supporting mentees in this way can also lead to better recruitment, retention and development of interior designers for your firm. It is an important opportunity to:

  • Hone your own coaching, counselling and leadership skills
  • Develop of new professional and organizational contacts
  • Exposure to new ideas, technologies and perspectives through the relationship with mentees
  • Gain personal satisfaction
  • Expand relationships built on mutual trust and shared learning
